Get Moving: Seabourn’s New ‘In Motion’ Shore Excursions
Yesterday, in our story Gone For A Hike: Pam Conover, Sailing On Sojourn, 'In Motion' In Torshavn, Seabourn Cruise Line President & CEO mentioned that she participated in a new “In Motion” shore excursion. What are these “In Motion” shore excursions? For insights, we asked the person responsible for developing them, Lee Lennon, Seabourn’s Director of Destination Services.
“We are finding that our guests lead very active lifestyles and are looking for alternative ways in which to explore Seabourn’s ports of call ‘in motion,’ ” Lennon says.
She notes that Seabourn is offering more active optional excursions than in the past. The new “In Motion” excursions include hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, canoeing, speedboating and more — “all sorts of healthy ways to enjoy the outdoors and bring nature and all of its wonders up close and personal,” Lennon says.
She notes that Seabourn is also working with its on-board personal trainers from The Seabourn Spa to provide tips on how to prepare for, participate in and recover from active excursions. “The personal trainers will also escort these excursions, so it becomes a wellness activity,” she adds.
On Seabourn Sojourn’s maiden voyage, “In Motion” excursions cover a lot of ground, literally. Excursions include hiking in the Faroe Islands (which Pam did) as well as in Olden and Bergen, Norway. There’s also flight-seeing and off-road 4X4 in Reykjavik, rib rides in the Faroes and Bergen as well as biking in Amsterdam.
