Meet your specialized English
speaking guide and proceed with a private car for a private tour through Amsterdam,
passing the main highlights of the city. We start with a panoramic drive through
the city passing by historical Jewish sights. Visit the Portuguese Synagogue
in Amsterdam. (The synagogue is open from Sunday until Friday from 10am-4pm
/ closed on Jewish holidays). The synagogue was built by the architect Elias
Bouman in 1675 and is the largest synagogue in the world. The exterior and interior
have remained largely in their original state since its completion. The surrounding
buildings include the world famous Ets Chaim library of Livraria Montezinos.
Across the street from the Synagogue you will find the Jewish Historical Museum
of Amsterdam. (The museum is open daily from 11am - 5pm except on the Day of
Atonement (Yom Kippur).
Religion, culture and history
of the Jews in the Netherlands dominate the museum's permanent Collection. This
Superbly restored building complex once comprised four Ashkenazi synagogues.
There are two large and two small synagogues, or shuls, the first inaugurated
in 1671.
Proceed to the Anne Frank
House located in the Jordaen area. Visit the hiding place where Anne Frank wrote
her famous diary during World War Two. The original of the diary is on display
as part of the Anne Frank House's permanent exhibition. Visiting the Anne Frank
House has been a moving experience for millions of people from all over the
world. (The Anne Frank house is open from 9am till 7pm (between 1st of April
and end of august open till 9pm). We supply special tickets to allow direct
access into the museum, valid for entrance after 5pm.
