Meet your expert local driver and guide for the drive to Bilbao.
Enjoy a panoramic visit of the city and learn Bilbao´s history through its architecture and urban development. Learn also about the city´s past 700 years in its historical quarter. Visit the Metro station by Norman Foster and explore the new architecture at the Ría de Bilbao. Enjoy a guided tour of the Guggenheim Museum designed by the North American architect Frank O. Gehry. The Guggenheim Museum is the result of a real collaboration between the city of Bilbao and the Guggenheim Foundation. The design and layout have been well incorporated into the city’s development program of the late '80's. Taking around 4 years to build, the least one can say is that the glass and titanium building is striking. Opened in 1997, the interior also with its great cathedral ceilings and open spaces are a paradox to the intimate lighting in some of the rooms. Since its opening the museum receives an average one million visitors annually and has had an extraordinary impact in economy and in the Basque society, boosting tourism in the region and promoting the revitalization of many public and private spaces in Bilbao. Anyone who has any interest in architecture or simply wants to admire buildings that are out of the ordinary will agree that this building makes it worthwhile to visit Bilbao.

Bilbao, the capital of Vizcaya Province, lies seven miles from the sea and has a coastline featuring rocks and steep cliffs, creeks and small estuaries; small fishing villages nestle in the inlets below green hills. The port of Bilbao is the largest in Spain and is built against the mountains. The city's fine museums include Fine Arts Museum and Guggenheim Museum. The Guggenheim Bilbao Museum is devoted to American and European art of the 20th century. The Fine Arts Museum specializes in paintings by Spanish masters. Our Lady of Begona Church is a 16th-century church on a hill with a good view of the city and valley. Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art is located in an old convent of Dominican nuns, a 16th-century, L-shaped cloister housing this fine museum with an outstanding exhibit of silversmiths' crafts that is one of the best collections in Spain. The Bullfighting Museum shows interesting bullfighting paraphernalia, such as costumes, photographs of famous toreros and a collection of posters. Visitors can try their gambling luck at Gran Casino Nervion.
