TOUR DESCRIPTION
You will be met by your personal driver/guide to begin a fascinating sightseeing tour of the Rodney District, just north of Auckland. Enjoy a morning tea stop and short walk through the historic village of Puhoi before proceeding to the beautiful Brick Bay Sculpture Trail.

The Brick Bay Sculpture Trail near Matakana showcases contemporary sculpture by established and emerging artists. Experience Sculpture in a remarkable landscape framed by towering native trees and majestic palms, abundant birdlife, and green pastures all overlooking the celebrated Brick Bay Vineyard. This is a unique outdoor gallery experience, where an ever changing display of 25 to 30 works is sensitively sited along the 2km trail.

Your journey continues as you travel to Matakana, once the “fruitbowl of Auckland” and now home to a flourishing wine industry. These are innovative, quality-focussed wineries, small and mostly family owned. You will enjoy a delicious two-course lunch at Heron’s Flight winery as you overlook the vines. The region abounds with such a startling array of fresh produce that Chefs are spoilt for choice. Lunch will be accompanied by a glass of the local wine and you will have a chance to talk to winemaker David Hoskins an American now settled in New Zealand.

We depart this coastal paradise via the renowned Morris & James Pottery Workshop. All products are individually handcrafted by local artisans in the pottery’s workshop including pots, platters, stunning wall panels and architectural ceramics.

Your day concludes as you return to the ship approximately 4.30pm.
