Al Ghaydah

Overview

Introduction

Located in the Mahra province (in the extreme east), this coastal town has a population that still speaks ancient (non-Arabic) dialects. Though quite a bit out of the way, Al Ghaydah will attract those who are deeply interested in Mideastern culture. This region has been closed by the government from time to time, so check with officials in Aden before heading out there. 375 mi/600 km northeast of Aden.
