Ahvaz is a commercial city whose main attraction is its proximity to several historic sites: Choga Zanbil (Elamite ruins and a well-preserved ziggurat), Haft Tappe (ruins) and Shush. Check locally about the advisability of travel to the area. 350 mi/564 km southwest of Tehran.
