The island of Gozo, reached by car-and-passenger ferry from Cirkewwa on Malta, is more pastoral than the island of Malta, and it offers wonderful views of rolling hills, a dramatic coastline and majestic churches springing up from villages.
If a quiet, relaxing vacation is what you're after, we think four or five nights is just about right, and Gozo is only about 15 mi/25 km northwest of Valletta.
