A short drive east of the Fraser River and 220 mi/355 km northeast of Vancouver, Kamloops, British Columbia, makes a convenient stop on the way to or from Jasper or Banff, Alberta. The town is a popular base for trout fishing in the area lakes.
Other attractions include a museum and art gallery, two-hour riverboat rides, river beaches, waterslides and the Kamloops Wildlife Park, a natural setting with buffalo and cougars. It is also an overnight transit stop for the Rocky Mountaineer rail trip to Banff, Jasper and beyond.
