Visit Diekirch, Luxembourg, to see its Roman mosaics, a 15th-century church (built on fifth-century Roman foundations) and the National Museum of Military History, which is full of personal accounts by U.S. and German soldiers and is the best museum in the country on the subject of the Battle of the Bulge.

Diekirch, 22 mi/ 40 km north of Luxembourg City, is a pleasant town for strolling. The small business district has bakeries, cafes, pubs and a few shops. You'll also pass a prehistoric dolmen, a municipal museum, the vintage car and brewery museums housed in the same building, as well as the Diekirch brewery itself. The town is well worth a visit.
