IntroductionThis oasis town is located in the black volcanic desert of northwestern Saudi Arabia, about 30 mi/48 km from the Jordanian border in an area known as Qurrayat al Milh. Ithra merits an hour-long visit if you are in the area. The town's main attraction is the two-story ruin of a Nabataean Palace, which dates from the first century BC. Nearby, in Ugaylah, is an old Rwallah tribal fort. These areas are reached by car or by flying into Turayf or Al Hadithah. 1,115 mi/1,795 km northwest of Riyadh.
