Located 8 mi/13 km northwest of the Guatemalan border, this small, hot and sultry port got an upgrade in 2005 and now welcomes occasional cruise ships. Facilities are limited to a few small restaurants and a handicrafts market.
Nearby excursions available to passengers include the Izapa Archaeological Zone, Tapachula city, a lagoon boat ride, and a coffee and chocolate tour.
