Visitors to Yorkton, Saskatchewan, located 185 mi/300 km southeast of Saskatoon, may wish to stop and relax at the Butterfly Garden, where medicinal plants attract butterflies. Visit this city's branch of the Western Development Museum, which showcases the history of Saskatchewan's various cultures. Also in town is the St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church (circa 1914), with its unusual painted dome.
Each May, the town is the site of the Yorkton Short Film and Video Festival, what's said to be the oldest continuously running short film festival in Canada. The Threshermen Show and Senior Festival takes place in early August. The Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park, not far from the town, offers swimming, hiking, a boat launch, fishing and tennis.
