OverviewIntroductionFormerly known as Perinet, Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, 90 mi/140 km southeast of Antananarivo, Madgascar, is home to more than 10 species of lemur. A prominent resident in Andasibe-Mantadia National Park is the Indris lemur (the largest member of the family), which has pandalike markings and an incredible high-pitched call reminiscent of a whale. The park is hilly and with a series of ridges; it spreads out over 31,654 acres/12,810 hectares. The park can be seen as a long day trip from Antananarivo, but it's a four-hour drive in each direction, so it's more sensible to stay overnight and enjoy the scenery, birds and beautiful wild orchids.
