This town is centered around the University of North Dakota, and the academic community fosters a sophisticated culture. The North Dakota Museum of Art, located on campus, is known throughout the region for its contemporary art (check out the neon in the restrooms). Grand Forks is also the birthplace of a popular breakfast food: Cream of Wheat was invented there in 1893.
Make a stop at the Myra Museum, which depicts the role pioneers played in settling the area and includes several late-19th-century buildings. There's also an auto-racing track and a water park in town. 75 mi/120 km north of Fargo.
