Wang Po

Not far from the city of Kanchanaburi lies an escape from city life into the wild forests surrounding the Wang Po elephant camp, where activities include traveling with elephants through the forest,  visiting local farms, trekking with the magnificent animals,  and bathing the elephants in the river. To round out your wildlife exploration, visit the nearby Tiger Temple.

Kwai River

The Kwai River in Thailand is internationally famous thanks to the book and motion picture of the same name, ‘The Bridge Over the River Kwai’ (1957) staring William Holden and Alec Guiness. This memorable World War II epic action/adventure film put the river, and the bridge on the map. The River Kwai, despite its proximity to Bangkok, is quite unspoiled with magnificent scenery, rich flora and bird life. It is the most picturesque of rivers, the scene and mood constantly changing. There are two river Kwais – the Kwai Noi and the Kwai Yai. Both rivers flow down from great lakes in the mountainous Burma border regions, joining in Kanchanaburi.

Kuala Kangsar

A district of the royal town of Perak, Malaysia, Kuala Kangsar is cradled by the Perak River. Between 1877 and 1887, Sultan Shah erected his royal palace by the riverbank, which at the time was an odd place since it was an exposing threat of invasion. Natural causes was the palace's main problem almost getting swept by the floods. However, the palace was then moved further north away from the river bank. Historical Kuala Kangsar still sits quietly by the river bend and its growing communities follow. It is the birthplace of Malaysia's rubber industry and today, visitors can explore the luxurious royal palaces of gold-topped mosques, and fused architectures of Renaissance and neo-classical styles.
