The Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra (Throughout the Year)
Throughout the year, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra performs a wide variety of concerts on selected themes. Since its creation in 1856, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra has entertained a wide audience, including both adults and children, constantly re-inventing itself.
Concerts at the Prince’s Palace of Monaco (Summer)
During the summer, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra performs at the Prince’s Palace in the royal courtyard, the Cour d’Honneur. The idea came about in 1959, in the reign of Prince Rainier III, reviving a tradition that dates back to the 18th century. At that time, the Princes of Monaco regularly “gave music” in the Palace courtyard.
The Ballets de Monte-Carlo (Throughout the Year)
The Ballets de Monte-Carlo is one of the most prestigious artistic institutions in the Principality. Love of dance is a long-standing tradition in Monaco, born from the passion of a genius impresario, Sergei Diaghilev. This beautiful, ephemeral art is admirably represented in the country today by the new Ballets de Monte-Carlo structure, which incorporates the Company, the Monaco Dance Forum Festival and the Princess Grace Academy, led by Jean-Christophe Maillot.
The Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival (February/March)
The Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival has continued to explore music said to be “classical” since 1984, to show that it is anything but classical! It just has to be listened to in new concert formats, with artists who take risks and stray from the beaten track! Other moments of the festival are designed to be unmissable experiences, like the Surprise Voyage – a much-anticipated event which takes you to a secret location – and the Monaco Music Forum, which mixes jugglers, brass band, dance… in one mad day. Monaco Rose Ball (March)
The Rose Ball was established by Princess Grace of Monaco in 1954. It is organized in March every year by the Monte-Carlo SBM group in the glamorous Salle des Etoiles of the Sporting Monte-Carlo. This unique event brings together international high society for the first major society event of the year. In one evening, it illuminates the Principality with splendor and light, creating an atmosphere of brilliance and celebration. Chaired nowadays by H.S.H. The Reigning Prince Albert II and H.R.H. Princess Caroline of Hanover, the Bal de la Rose is a symbol of glamour which continues the fascinating legend of Monte-Carlo, which it helped create. Its aura is such that it attracts many nameless admirers who wish to feel the dreamlike fairy?tale of Monaco.
Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters (Mid-April)
The Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters tournament is a men’s tennis tournament played on clay, it is part of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category of events, organized by the ATP with nine tournaments which have been taking place since 1990 in Europe, North America and Asia.
The Historic Monaco Grand Prix (every two years at the beginning of May)
The Historic Monaco Grand Prix was created in 1997, on the 700th anniversary of the Grimaldi Dynasty. Unlike its Formula 1 counterpart, the Historic Grand Prix takes place every two years, a fortnight ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix. Only cars built up to 1980 are eligible to take part.
Formula 1 Grand Prix (at the end of May)
Exceptionally well known, this spectacular "city race", which takes place in a highly charged atmosphere, is one of the most testing stages of the Drivers’ World Championship. Thousands of gear-changes in a labyrinth of track, the slowest bend in the World Championship, the fastest breakdown service in the world: the Monaco Grand Prix will give you plenty of thrills.
Monte-Carlo International Fireworks Festival (July/August)
This free event attracts thousands from the area to view some of the most beautiful and original fireworks around. The competition has been held since 1966 and brings pyrotechnic specialists from around the world to show off their talent.
The Monaco Red Cross Gala (August)
In the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, Chair of the Monaco Red Cross, accompanied by H.S.H. Princess Charlene and H.R.H. Princess Caroline, this charity social event takes place every year in the Salle des Etoiles of the Sporting Monte-Carlo.
Monaco Yacht Show (end of September)
At the end of September, Port Hercule hosts the Monaco Yacht Show, an impressive spectacle devoted to the world of luxury yachting.
Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival
Since its creation in 2006, the festival has welcomed the high patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and we would like to thank him for the interest he continues to place in the event. The Festival will introduce us to, or possibly reacquaint us with, the biggest jazz stars as well as today’s fresh talents in this wonderful setting, a temple of music and art for over one hundred years.
