Pros: Food, staff, amenities
Cons: No vegan "ice cream" cones (ie Sorbet) in Lido buffet. Had to request CC on public TV.
Alaska 14 day
Pros: everything except cabin noise
Cons: cabin noise from above cabin 3395 3 am to 7 am and 7 pm to 11 pm
Pros: The CREW. I cannot stress enough how precious they are to this sailing. You get to know them and their families and they know everything you want from your request for a straw to how many sugars and when you want your tea. The itinerary and activities bring passengers back year-after-year. It is a "community" ship with knitting for hospitals in Seattle to arts and crafts to lectures to Tai Chi to painting to cooking to computer classes, etc...there is not enough time to do it all.
Cons: Shore excursions are expensive and in large coaches. Meat seemed a bit difficult to get cooked as requested. Next ship upgrade is May 2020 and they will replace all the bathrooms, plus more.
As good if not better than last time
Pros: Great staff, great entertainment and great food.
Cons: Customs was slow to show up on debarcation, I'm sure some missed their flights. A very stressful end to an otherwise great trip. But it was customs, not Holland America Lines. However, they coulod have kept us better informed as to what was happening.
Pros: Most of the staff is very good. Neptune Suites are very nice and spacious.
Cons: Food was very average including the Pinnacle Grill. Production shows were not as good as most cruise lines.
Alaska & Canada
Pros: Great service and staff very friendly
Cons: Entertainment in dance club sparse

World Cruise Segment - Hong Kong to Dubai
Hong Kong to Dubai
Pros: Very interesting ports. Great port lecturer. She could tell great details about the cities and people. Service was great. Ship took precautions in case of pirate activity which was reassuring and interesting.
Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Thiland, Sri Lanka, UAE
Pros: Great trip

Last leg of 2014 World Cruise
Pros: Holland America's service level and crew are wonderful
Cons: Anytime dining not available on the world cruise. Missed ports due to virus outbreak
African ports cut in half without notice
Cape Town, Namibia, St Helena, Ascention Island, Cape Verde islands, Caribbean
Pros: Lots of ceremonies with free champagne, local entertainments, free DVD's, educational speakers, very very clean ship, perfect sunny weather and a smooth ride
Cons: An elite very senior clique of guests who sail the entire 115 day itinerary rules the roost. I really did like the Captain alot and believe there should be a VERY clear policy related to changing itineraries that is available to Captains who might be bullied by some powerful guests who have fears.
Segment 3 of World Cruise (Hong Kong to Cape Town)
Segment 3 of 2014 World Cruise Hong Kong to Cape Town
Pros: Ship size is perfect for the world cruise itinerary. We docked in all ports with the exception of Phuket, where we tendered. And 900 passengers was just right too…it gave everyone a nice chance to interact with familiar faces and meet new people as well.
Cons: The internet on board was a newly installed system that had not been tested sufficiently. This presented ongoing communication problems for passengers and lots of dissatisfaction and complaining. This was not handled well from a customer service perspective by Holland America, which finally announced a refund of 50% for internet fees.
Holland America World Cruise 2015
Ft. Lauderdale - Sydney
Pros: Great cruise made especially wonderful by HAL's terrific staff.
Cons: Only complaint was that the public rooms were sometimes too cold, especially the main theater for lectures in the morning.
World Cruise Segment One - Ft Lauderdale- Auckland
Grand World Voyage
Pros: The service level and attentivness of the officers and ALL crew members cannot be matched anywhere in my opinion
Cons: I think that the entertainment on a World Voyage should be of a higher level (as is Cunard's entertainment), There were some definitely highlights, but was not overly impressed by the quality of most of the entertainment in the show room.Cruise director is WONDERFUL though and knows every passenger.
